Based in the Midlands, the position supports customers across the Midlands and North UK, with occasional travel to other regions within the UK as required. Overnight stays may be necessary depending on customer location and workload.

As a Field Service Engineer, your primary responsibility is to ensure customer instruments are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standard. You will deliver responsive and effective technical support, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum customer satisfaction.
The role includes installation, service, maintenance, and repair of company products at customer sites and within service centres. With experience, you will also deliver customer training. You will be responsible for accurate documentation, timely escalation to second-line technical support when required, and ensuring customers are fully supported in maintaining optimal system performance.
You will work as part of a collaborative and high-performing team, including Service Administration and Technical Support functions.

- Diagnose and resolve faults using strong technical fundamentals and a methodical approach
- Ensure high instrument uptime and customer satisfaction through effective troubleshooting and maintenance
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams
- Manage your workload effectively, including travel planning and prioritisation of service activities
- Demonstrate adaptability and resilience when working under pressure
- Continuously develop technical knowledge and understanding of Bio-Rad technologies
- HNC/HND, Diploma, or equivalent in Electronic Engineering (or related discipline)
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role (diagnostics or laboratory environment desirable)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured and analytical approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good time management and the ability to work independently in a field-based role
- Solid IT skills, including familiarity with PC-based systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal English, with the ability to understand technical documentation, training materials, and service manuals
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the UK, including overnight stays
