Business Analyst Energy Trading

What’s the role

As a Business Analyst in the London IT team, you will collaborate with Shell\’s global IT hubs and support the Shell Energy business by working on trading projects. This role offers the chance to deliver IT solutions for Shell’s energy transformation, with opportunities for skill development and career growth alongside passionate IT professionals.

What you’ll be doing

As the Business Analyst, you would be responsible for the identification and documentation of business requirements, working with business, IT stakeholders and technical teams to determine feasible solution options. You would actively manage the requirements through the end-to-end solution delivery lifecycle then transfer expertise to the support team.

Your role will vary depending on your project(s), typically you would perform the following:

1. Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement
2. Build relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them informed, managing expectations, and developing trust, respect, and credibility
3. Link technical solutions with business strategy when working with business partners
4. Be a strong team player and integrate into a large organisation

What you bring

• Commodity Trade lifecycle experience in the energy markets
• A proven significant years of working experience within an energy organisation
• Experience in identifying business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements. Skilled in creating clear documentation to effectively communicate requirements and related information
• Knowledge of at least one of the following functional areas:

• Front Office – pricing, P&L and exposure management
• Middle Office – Market Risk and Risk Valuation
• Back-Office – Confirmations and Settlements processes and/or accounting processes
• Asset onboarding – Understanding the technical requirements and challenges involved in integrating new renewable generation assets into the portfolio
