Purpose of Role
Provide technical leadership and strategic direction within the Asset Management practice, delivering innovative, evidence-based solutions that optimise asset performance, resilience, risk, and whole-life value across water and wastewater infrastructure. The role combines deep technical expertise with commercial acumen to support clients in developing robust asset management strategies, investment plans, and business cases aligned with regulatory and operational objectives.
A key focus is advancing the understanding, quantification, and evidencing of asset health to support PR29 business planning, ensuring investment decisions are underpinned by robust data, risk-based methodologies, and demonstrable links between asset condition, performance, customer outcomes, and long-term resilience.
The role will lead the development and implementation of asset management, tendering, and market growth initiatives, while acting as a trusted advisor to clients. This includes facilitating executive and technical workshops, embedding best practice asset management approaches within client organisations, and working collaboratively across Digital, Engineering Consultancy, and Design & Build teams to deliver integrated, innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in the development and application of advanced asset management methodologies, integrating engineering, operational, digital, financial, and risk-based approaches to solve complex infrastructure challenges.
- Lead the development of asset health frameworks, strategies, and evidence bases that support PR29 submissions, investment planning, regulatory compliance, and long-term asset stewardship.
- Drive improvements in asset health understanding through the effective use of data, analytics, deterioration modelling, risk assessment, performance monitoring, and digital asset management technologies.
- Translate asset condition, performance, and risk information into clear investment priorities and business cases that demonstrate value, resilience, customer benefit, and regulatory alignment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, acting as a trusted advisor on strategic asset management, asset health, investment optimisation, and regulatory planning.
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities, contributing to market growth, thought leadership, strategic partnerships, and successful tender submissions.
- Lead the successful delivery of complex, high-profile programmes and projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved safely, efficiently, and within agreed timescales, quality standards, and budget constraints.
- Facilitate client workshops and stakeholder engagement activities, building consensus and supporting organisational adoption of asset management best practice.
- Mentor, develop, and inspire technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

- Deep understanding of ISO 55000/55001 principles and their practical application in asset-intensive environments, with demonstrable experience across multiple asset lifecycle stages.
- Strong capability in developing asset health frameworks and evidence bases that support investment decision-making, regulatory submissions and long-term asset stewardship.
- Expertise in assessing, quantifying and communicating asset condition, performance, criticality and risk to support resilient and efficient investment planning.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science, Asset Management, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience delivering asset management solutions within complex infrastructure sectors, either within client organisations or consultancy environments.
