Senior Data Engineer – Drive a Greener Future with the @One Alliance
Location: Peterborough / Hybrid
Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our @one Alliance Digital Team. This role is part of the @one Alliance, a collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry leaders including Balfour Beatty, Barhale, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme and are preparing for our ambitious AMP8 period.

We are the @one Alliance – a ground‑breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and industry partners delivering innovative, environmentally driven infrastructure projects across the region. We work with leading partners such as Autodesk, Databricks, Microsoft and academic institutions including Cambridge and Cranfield Universities to drive innovative data solutions.

As a Senior Data Engineer within the @one Alliance Digital Team, you will shape data capabilities that support hundreds of vital infrastructure projects. You will develop robust data pipelines and architectures, guide best practices, and support cutting‑edge digital platforms in a collaborative, forward‑thinking environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with alliance reporting teams to ensure required data is available from a centralised source in Microsoft Databricks and Azure.
- Produce, review documentation and enterprise architecture diagrams on a regular basis.
- Maintain and be responsible for the integrity of data movement into and out of the data lake.
- Use domain experience to extract data from corporate systems.
- Engage with Alliance Comms for promotion and correct communications when designing, delivering a new solution or product.
- Work closely with our Engineering Teams to promote and understand where digital solutions could help provide benefits to the capital programme processes.
- Engage with Anglian Water DDaT teams to ensure solutions are delivered correctly and through the correct governance processes.
What you’ll bring:
- Senior level experience in solution development and maintenance including testing, CI/CD, monitoring, optimisation and cost management.
- Considerable experience working with or preparing large data sets (ETL).
- Stakeholder management and awareness of progress.
- Knowledge of data integration and reporting technologies including SAP Business Objects, SAP Data Services and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Data expertise and understanding of relational data structures.
