Binnies, part of the RSK Group, is looking for an experienced and competent Safety & Risk Consultant to work within the South-East of England. As an essential member of our Safety & Risk Team, you will assist a valued and longstanding client in delivering exciting and diverse flood and coastal projects. You will work as the technical lead for the region and resource a team who discharge the duties of principal designer and CDM adviser on a varied portfolio of schemes. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a highly successful consultancy in an exciting period of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discharge the duties of the principal designer or CDM advisor on a wide variety of projects across the Southeast Region.
  • Provide technical guidance to site-based and/or office-based staff and less experienced colleagues.
  • Visit sites to assess existing hazards, working closely with clients to ensure information is passed onto design and construction teams.
  • Maintain client relationships on a day-to-day basis, champion clients’ safety programmes, produce statutory documentation such as pre-construction information and the health & safety file, and appraise contractor documentation.
  • Attend design/progress meetings, undertake site audits/inspections during the construction phase, and have the potential to chair buildability meetings and hazard meetings (e.g., HAZCONs or HAZOPs).

Essential Experience

  • Relevant Degree or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
  • CMaPS & CMIOSH.
  • Experience working on civil engineering construction projects in a health & safety consultancy role.
  • Working knowledge of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Good communication skills, trustworthy, team player.

Desirable

  • CPD regularly updated, experience in health & safety training.
  • Environmental awareness qualification.
  • Site experience and understanding of design, ideally within a flood, coastal & maritime environment.
  • Large project start-up experience.
