Overview
Binnies UK, part of the RSK Group, are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the engineering design delivery of Anglian Water’s PFAS removal portfolio as part of AMP8. This is a new and high-profile programme focused on removing “forever chemicals” from water supplies, primarily through two-stage Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) treatment. You will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (circa 15–20 staff) and work collaboratively across the @one Alliance to deliver safe, sustainable, and high-quality design solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineering design delivery for a portfolio of water treatment projects.
- Provide technical and leadership direction across process, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Manage scope, programme, cost, risk, and resources through effective Engineering Project Plans.
- Collaborate with BIM, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure right-first-time design quality.
- Work closely with project management, procurement, construction, and operations teams to deliver outcomes.
- Drive affordability, sustainability, carbon reduction, and value through design.
- Fulfil delegated Principal Designer duties and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
- Champion innovation, digital engineering, and standardisation across the portfolio.
About You
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer, or working towards chartership (preferred).
- Experience delivering water sector capital projects.
- Proven ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of CDM designer responsibilities.
- Passionate about sustainability, innovation, and collaborative delivery.
