Location: Hybrid – Peterborough (We ask candidates within the Anglian Water region to be in the office 3 days per week. If you are based outside the region, we’re happy to discuss a suitable hybrid arrangement.)

The Role:
We’re looking for a Design Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (15–20 people) delivering a £110m portfolio of wastewater treatment projects. Working across multiple catchments, you’ll drive solutions focused on phosphorus removal, storm overflow reduction, and enabling future growth—using a holistic, place-based approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design delivery across a portfolio of complex wastewater projects
- Manage engineering plans covering scope, programme, cost, risk and resources
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver outcomes
- Drive affordability, sustainability and low-carbon design solutions
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and champion health & safety
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team
- Promote innovation, standardisation and digital engineering (e.g. 3D modelling)
About You:
- Degree in Engineering (or equivalent); Chartered or working towards
- Experience leading engineering teams and delivering design on capital projects
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and design responsibilities
- Wastewater or utilities experience desirable
- Strong leadership, collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Passion for sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement
