Binnies UK Delivery Business is experiencing an exciting period of growth and has secured key multi-year contracts across a broad range of UK clients. To support this growth and the successful execution of project works, Binnies is recruiting an Operations Manager to support the Delivery Business. We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Manager to work with the Director of Delivery and Delivery Leadership Team to support the day-to-day functioning of the Delivery P&L and to optimise team performance. The ideal candidate has a background in operations or project management in an asset creation environment. This role is pivotal to ensuring our projects run smoothly, our people are supported, and our business functions efficiently.

About the Role

  • Support the Delivery Leadership Team in nurturing a collaborative and inclusive company culture promoting the ENGAGED values and behaviours.
  • Visible leadership and engagement on strategies, initiatives and actions that protect and improve the health, safety and wellbeing of our people and all those that we engage with in undertaking our business activities.
  • Have a proactive approach to Health, Safety & Wellbeing driving high standards within the P&L.
  • Collaborate to assist each Delivery Service Line, the Delivery P&L as well as the Binnies UK and Australia businesses to achieve or out-perform financial and growth targets.
  • Engage and support Binnies Operations team and other P&L counterparts in running an effective and efficient business.
  • Implement and maintain operational systems, tools, and processes that enhance productivity.
  • Support change management and implementation of new platforms and tools that support efficient operation of the business.
  • Continuously improve quality processes, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Assist Delivery Service Lines with project budgeting, forecasting, and coordination with the finance and commercial team.
  • Track operational and other overhead costs and help identify and lead cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead, support and guide daily operations across teams and departments.
  • Manage resourcing and monitor chargeability, utilisation and capacity - flagging risks, underutilisation or bottlenecks early.
  • Maintain a diverse, well-functioning, empowered and supportive environment.
  • Coordinate logistics for team meetings, cascades & information sharing.

Essential Requirements

  • The role is suitable for candidates with a background in Civil Engineering / Construction / Water & Environmental Management or a related asset creation sector.
  • You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
  • A higher qualification and professional registration in project management, general management, construction, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and working in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting.
  • Experienced across the full capital delivery lifecycle and variety of technical disciplines.
  • Experience of financial planning or business strategy, bids and pursuits as well as understanding contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management, with a demonstrable ability to improve performance against ‘as sold’ metrics.
  • You should possess and be able to demonstrate extensive contracting experience at a senior level.
  • You will have demonstrable experience operating in a senior operational role and have experience of supervising and leading large teams of people.
  • Be able to travel to Binnies UK offices and sites, and client offices as required by the role.

Desirable Requirements

  • Has experience of profit and loss responsibility for a regional business or a significant portfolio of work.
