About the role:
This is a strategic leadership role combining technical expertise, people leadership, business development and operational excellence. You will lead our Process Technology team, strengthen our technical capability, grow client relationships and ensure Binnies continues to be recognised as a market leader in water and wastewater treatment, resource recovery and industrial process engineering. You will champion innovation, digital delivery and technical excellence while supporting the development of engineering standards, processes and best practice across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the strategic vision for Process Technology, aligned with Binnies' business objectives, growth ambitions and market direction.
- Provide technical leadership across water and wastewater treatment, biosolids, resource recovery, industrial water and emerging process technologies.
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing Process Engineering team, including recruitment, succession planning, mentoring, professional development, workforce planning and budgeting.
- Drive technical excellence through engineering standards, design guidance, knowledge sharing, process optimisation and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the Binnies Leadership Team and wider engineering disciplines to ensure strong technical governance, quality assurance, risk management and effective resource utilisation across projects.
- Support strategic bids, frameworks and major programmes by providing technical leadership, contributing to winning work and delivering value through trusted client relationships and innovative solutions.
- Champion digital engineering, automation and opportunities to standardise processes and improve delivery efficiency across the business.
- Represent Binnies externally through industry forums, conferences, professional institutions and partnerships with universities, research organisations and technology providers to strengthen our reputation and maintain our position as a market leader.
About you:
We're looking for an inspiring and collaborative technical leader with experience gained within an asset owner, contractor or engineering consultancy, leading multidisciplinary teams across complex, multi-site commissions. You'll be passionate about developing people, championing innovation and delivering outstanding engineering solutions.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience leading multidisciplinary process engineering teams within the UK water or environmental sector.
- Recognised technical expertise in water and wastewater treatment process design, optimisation and project delivery.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience supporting business development and building strategic client relationships.
- A proven track record of driving technical excellence, innovation, engineering standards and continuous improvement.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience leading geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary teams.
- Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a relevant professional institution.
