Binnies is recruiting a Technical Manager to sit within the Environmental Consultancy (EC) Team. The role supports delivery across Infrastructure, Natural Capital and Nature Based Solutions, Water, Energy and Commercial Sectors, nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will develop and diversify skills and experience within a growing team, with opportunities for on‐the‐job learning and external training. Responsibilities
- Lead and be accountable for the coordination and resourcing of specialist resources to deliver the portfolio of work.
- Provide bid management, technical bid and client engagement support for client opportunities.
- Coordinate with Binnies technical communities of practice to focus service development and innovation to meet current and future client needs.
- Collaborate with industry associations, research institutions, and other relevant organisations to stay informed of the latest technological advancements and emerging trends in environmental consultancy and impact assessment.
- Health, Safety and Wellbeing is at the heart of each project.
- Lead the technical coordination of EC projects and oversee technical teams of environmental services specialists in producing concise, client‐facing reports.
- Ensure reports meet client requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance to the team, maintaining awareness of latest industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Client representatives to deliver client and project needs and address technical concerns.
- Independently provide technical leadership and share knowledge of technical and quality management processes.
- Coordinate multi‐disciplinary and specialist teams to deliver projects with varying complexity in impact assessment, nature‐based solution development, habitat creation and landscape‐scale enhancement.
Client Focused Technical Leadership
- Determine key client interests and drivers on highly complex projects and identify key clients in specific business lines.
- Act as a key technical advisor in the delivery of environmental projects.
- Understand and communicate industry and technical trends to the wider Binnies team and stakeholders.
- Proactively offer other technical services to meet client challenges and requirements.
- Proactively contribute to and support business development, strategy and pursuit activities.
Commercial Acumen
- Manage allocated overhead budget assigned to client engagement and bid management tasks.
- Demonstrate awareness of contract management principles and proactive change management in task coordination and project delivery.
- Knowledge of programme management using Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
Attributes & Experience
- Master's degree in Environmental or Natural Sciences preferred, with specialized training or experience relevant to the role.
- Holds an industry‐recognized professional chartered qualification.
- Experience in providing technical coordination of multi‐disciplinary teams across the full project development cycle (strategy, appraisal, feasibility, consenting & delivery).
- Experience in integrating digital tools or solutions to improve project quality and efficiency.
