Binnies, an RSK Group company, is looking for a proactive Information Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting our digital transformation strategy, ensuring that project data is a trusted asset across the lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information management (IM), with proficiency in Common Data Environment process/structure in accordance with ISO 19650, as well as software tools like ProjectWise (or similar).
As an Information Manager, you will provide leadership and guidance in managing information throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with industry standards, including ISO 19650. You will have the ability to understand and address information security requirements and leverage modern technology to enhance information management practices.
About the Role
- Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 standards for the organisation, particularly in relation to BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes, project information protocols, and document control.
- Oversee the management of project related information, ensuring its accuracy, accessibility, and security in accordance with project standards and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain project-specific BIM deliverables including BEPs, Responsibility Matrices, and Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDPs).
- Provide strategic guidance on information management best practices to internal teams and clients.
- Implement and manage information management systems and tools, such as ProjectWise, to improve workflow efficiency and data accuracy.
- Work closely with the digital team to ensure that information systems are integrated and optimised to support the efficient delivery of projects.
- Coach and develop project teams in IM and BIM practices, fostering a culture of digital excellence.
- Lead the IM function within projects by developing tailored information management strategies and collaborating with BIM/CAD, Document Control, Project Controls, HSW, GIS, and design leads to ensure integrated workflows.
- Support business development and the preparation of bid responses and opportunities within your technical domain.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data governance and data security measures are upheld in line with organisational and legal requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging tools, and regulatory changes that impact information management in the engineering and water sectors.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, optimising internal processes and systems to enhance information management capabilities.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with information standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Represent the IM function in client reviews, audits, and coordination meetings.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in information management within the engineering, construction, or professional services sectors.
- Proficiency in information management software tools such as ProjectWise.
- Strong understanding of ISO 19650 and its application in the context of BIM and project information management.
- Experience or strong understanding of information security principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong initiative, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently to drive continuous improvements in information management practices.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree or HND or equivalent qualification in Information Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in ISO 19650 or equivalent BIM/information management frameworks.
- Understanding of project control functions (e.g. cost, planning) and their relation to information management.
- Familiarity with data governance, risk management, and legal compliance in the context of project information.
