Binnies part of the RSK Group is looking for a Graduate Wetlands and Catchments Designer working within our Consultancy group on UK Water Engineering projects.

As a Graduate Wetlands and Catchments Designer, you will be taking part in our development programme. You will be a valued member of our highly experienced and widely respected team at Binnies. You will get the opportunity to work on an interesting and varied portfolio of work to support our growing portfolio of water and catchment work including natural capital projects and Solutions By Nature; our nature-based solutions team delivering blue-green infrastructure to the water industry. There is also opportunity to work for a range of clients and local authorities across a range of other sectors such as transport infrastructure, private development and energy generation and transmission projects.

The role will require collaboration with wider technical services within the Binnies team including network and flood modellers, ecologists, surveyors, geotechnical, landscape architects, natural capital specialists, engineers, planners and construction managers. You will be involved in all aspects of project delivery including, option analysis, feasibility assessments, stakeholder engagement, design, operation, maintenance and monitoring.

We will provide mentoring and training to develop your whole lifecycle skills in design and construction of Wetland and Catchments management and progress through your preferred professional institute to eventual chartership. Role Responsibilities

  • Working with the Solutions by Nature, and Wider Binnies teams, to deliver whole lifecycle design phases and construction on Wetland and Catchment projects
  • Writing supporting documents for planning applications and other environmental consents.
  • Providing general environmental support on a wide range of projects including fluvial and coastal flood risk management, water utility, rail, renewable energy projects and other large scale infrastructure.
  • Supporting environmental fieldwork and site assessments
  • Liaising with project teams, clients, stakeholders and the public as required.

About You

The role is suitable for entry level engineering / environmental graduates or those with up to 2 years of post-graduate experience.

  • have an engineering / environmental related degree
  • have some practical / theoretical experience of wetland and Catchment management schemes
  • Have an applied or theoretical experience of Natural Capital or Biodiversity Net Gain on schemes
  • have excellent written and oral communication
  • have the ability to organise, manage and prioritise work, with or without supervision, in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver well-planned work schedules
  • hold a full UK driving licence
