About The Role

Are you a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate looking to build your career in the water industry? We’re looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Binnies, working as part of the @one Alliance. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical skills and gain practical experience working on water and water recycling projects. You’ll become part of multi-disciplinary project teams, providing mechanical engineering capability and design expertise to help develop and deliver TOTEX solutions. The role is predominantly based in the design office, with occasional visits to site.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing mechanical and hydraulic systems for treatment plant processes.
• Supporting the design of pumping systems.
• Developing designs for mechanical building services.
• Supporting the design and integration of power generation systems, including export, peak lopping, standby and associated facilities.
• Supporting the integration of package plant.
• Developing mechanical equipment designs for hazardous areas in line with DSEAR requirements.
• Supporting the design and integration of bespoke solutions within existing treatment processes.
• Applying Anglian Water Engineering standards and standard products in accordance with project requirements.
• Contributing to the development of standard products and industrialised package solutions.
• Ensuring projects meet required timescales, budgets and quality standards, escalating issues where appropriate.

Commercial Awareness

You’ll develop an understanding of the TOTEX approach, considering both capital and maintenance requirements when developing engineering solutions. You’ll also gain experience in understanding root cause analysis and how this contributes to developing effective TOTEX solutions.

You’ll work alongside people from a range of partner organisations and engineering disciplines, learning from their knowledge and experience while contributing your own ideas. You’ll be encouraged to:

What We're Looking For

Essential

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or MEng).
• The ability to work in an open and collaborative way, developing effective relationships across Alliance teams and with the client.
• A rigorous approach to projects and tasks, with a focus on accurate and timely delivery and decision-making.

Desirable

• Knowledge of mechanical design experience within a similar business environment.
• A broad understanding of electrical control, instrumentation and switchgear equipment and suppliers.
• An understanding of defined stage-gate delivery processes and how these impact people, processes and your role.
• An ability to take responsibility for team projects and outputs.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems, taking ownership and offering solutions.
