Help shape the next phase of growth for Binnies’ Flood, Coast & Environment business.
We’re looking for an inspiring and commercially minded Services & Operations Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across our Flood, Coast & Environment (FCE) business.
This is a pivotal role within our FCE Leadership Team, helping to strengthen multidisciplinary delivery, drive operational excellence and support the continued growth of our environmental, flood resilience and nature-based solutions services.
You’ll bring together people, services, systems and operations to create an environment where our teams and projects can thrive. You’ll also play a key role in building strong client relationships and supporting Binnies’ wider growth ambitions.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership, Culture & Capability
- Provide visible, inclusive leadership across FCE, championing Binnies’ ENGAGED values and high standards of health, safety, wellbeing, quality and sustainability.
- Lead the ESF Department Heads across EIA & Consenting, Ecology, Landscape, and Water & Catchments, supporting delivery, capability and clear accountability.
- Drive collaboration, continuous improvement and investment in people, systems and processes.
Business & Financial Leadership
- Provide oversight of resource planning, utilisation, capacity and operational performance across FCE.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning, ensuring effective commercial and financial decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and sustainable growth.
Strategy, Growth & Client Leadership
- Help shape and deliver FCE’s growth strategy, aligning services, people and capability with market and client needs.
- Support major pursuits, frameworks, strategic bids and new services, advising on capacity, governance, risk and delivery resilience.
- Build strong relationships with clients, partners and the wider RSK Group to strengthen capability and support growth.
Operational Governance, Systems & Integration
- Lead effective governance, systems, processes and reporting across FCE to improve consistency and decision-making.
- Develop and improve operational tools, dashboards and processes across project management, resourcing, finance and reporting.
- Ensure clear accountability, decision-making and escalation routes across the business.
Service Assurance & Supply Chain
- Provide operational oversight of service quality, capability and supply chain resilience, while maintaining discipline-led accountability.
- Ensure capacity and supply chain arrangements reflect demand, client needs, delivery risks and growth plans.
- Strengthen quality processes, professional standards and collaboration across Environmental Services.
Technical Leadership
- Provide senior technical, commercial and operational insight to support decision-making, escalation and growth readiness.
- Enable ESF Department Heads and technical leads to retain ownership of technical leadership, project delivery and assurance.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will bring operational judgement, commercial awareness and collaborative leadership to enable effective decision-making, improvement and engagement across FCE and the wider Binnies business. You will also:
- Have strong operations or project management experience in professional services, with the judgement to operate at senior leadership level.
- Be organised, proactive and solutions-focused, able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Communicate effectively across FCE leadership, Department Heads, P&L / delivery leads, finance, HR, support functions and wider Operations teams.
- Be commercially aware, with experience in business planning and strategy planning, budgeting, forecasting, resource management, utilisation and cost control.
- Be confident leading operational change, improving systems and processes, supporting platform adoption and building governance for sustained improvement
