About the Role:
Following major AMP8 framework wins and continued growth across UK water companies, Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and lead our Birmingham‑based civil engineering team. This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys being a technical authority and subject‑matter expert, while also mentoring and developing engineers within a collaborative design environment. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality, sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure solutions, while strengthening technical capability across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Act as the civil engineering subject‑matter expert across multiple projects
- Lead and review complex designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
- Provide technical assurance and problem‑solving support to project teams
- Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries
- Support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice
- Mentor and develop graduate, junior, and apprentice engineers
- Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients
- Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision‑making
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience, working towards chartership
- Proven experience delivering outline and detailed design in the water or wastewater sector
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and remote resources
- Strong technical judgement and clear, pragmatic communication
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineers
Desirable:
- Experience across infra and non‑infra water projects
- Familiarity with UK water industry design standards and assurance processes
- Experience coordinating overseas resources
- Involvement in technical communities or innovation initiatives
