Following major AMP8 framework wins and continued growth across UK water companies, Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and lead our Birmingham-based civil engineering team.
This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys being a technical authority and subject matter expert, while also mentoring and developing engineers within a collaborative design environment. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure solutions, while strengthening technical capability across the business.
As a Principal Civil Design Engineer / Engineering Manager, you will:
- Act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects
- Provide technical assurance and problem-solving support to project teams
- Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries
- Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients
- Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making
Requirements:
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience, working towards chartership
- Proven experience delivering outline and detailed design in the water or wastewater sector
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and remote resources
- Experience across infra and non-infra water projects
- Familiarity with UK water industry design standards and assurance processes
- Involvement in technical communities or innovation initiatives
