Binnies are recruiting experienced EIA professionals to support work primarily in the south and east of England. Our portfolio of work includes flood, coastal and maritime projects and a range of other sectors such as ports, water utilities, transport and renewable power. Our scale of projects range from nationally significant infrastructure projects to local river restoration. The role can be full time or hybrid in one of our offices in Bristol/Bradford on Avon, Redhill or Birmingham. Or we can offer remote working.
The role will be primarily technical but also offers opportunities for team and line management/mentoring if that is your interest. We are a friendly team who pride ourselves on being at the forefront of environmental best practice and innovation, including digital EIA. Our environmental professionals are empowered to work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams and shape projects to deliver smarter and more sustainable solutions. For instance, Binnies includes Solutions By Nature; with a specific focus on delivering nature-based solutions via blue-green infrastructure to the water industry. Binnies hold the IEMA EIA Quality Mark, which is a benchmark of our high standards in EIA delivery.
About the Role
The role will include:
- Co-ordinating all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) including SEA and the range of other environmental assessments and consents such as WFD, HRA, and planning.
- Providing the reviewer and approver role for environmental deliverables; driving technical quality.
- Providing line management and mentoring to members of the Environmental Team.
- Supporting tenders.
- Supporting recruitment.
Qualifications/Requirements
The role is suitable for an Environmental professional with full professional membership (such as IEMA, IES or CIWEM). In addition, should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- An environmental related degree.
- Chartered with a relevant institute.
- A thorough understanding of EIA, sustainability and consenting (planning, HRA, WFD etc.).
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Excellent people skills and ideally previous management/supervisory experience.
- Understanding of commercial drivers of consultancy and ability to manage and work to programme and budget.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Previous consultancy experience.
- Experience of construction stage delivery would be an advantage but not essential.
- Previous project/commercial management is not required for this role as we have dedicated Project Managers to allow a technical focus on projects.
