Overview

Glaitness Nursery in Kirkwall, registered for 90 children aged 2‑5, seeks an Early Learning and Childcare Manager to lead a dedicated team and deliver the vision of ‘Learning through play in a nurturing way’.

Salaries

• £41,557 – £45,900 per annum (full‑time) or £46,503 – £49,295 (with Distant Islands Allowance)
• Hourly: £22.77 – £25.15 or £25.48 – £27.01 (with Distant Islands Allowance)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Nursery Leadership Team (ELC Manager, Senior Early Years Practitioner, Lead Practitioners)
• Drive improvement and support the nursery community
• Ensure delivery of the vision ‘Learning through play in a nurturing way’

Requirements

• Qualification meeting SSSC Practitioner in Day Care of Children Service (minimum HNC or SVQ3)
• Commit to obtaining a relevant manager qualification within 3 years of appointment
• Degree in Childhood Practice or other relevant qualification meeting SSSC criteria
• Ability to travel efficiently across Orkney workplaces
• Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG required
