We are looking to recruit a dynamic, innovative and exceptional solicitor of 4+ years post‑qualified experience (PQE) to develop their own education case load as well as contributing to the wider work of the Education Team. An associate or salaried partner role may be available for a sufficiently senior candidate with a following or with a proven ability to generate work for themselves and others.

Overview of Key Responsibilities

  • The fee earner is responsible to the Head of the Education Law Team and to the firm as a whole for the effective and efficient conduct of cases on behalf of clients in accordance with the overall policies and objectives of the firm.
  • The fee earner is also responsible for pro‑active development and promotion of the firm’s high standards and reputation.
  • The specialist area is expected to account for the majority of fee‑earning work, with occasional work outside the specialism as required.
  • For fee‑earning and case management purposes, the fee earner reports to the Head of the Education Team; for issues such as equipment or accommodation, the fee earner may report to the Partner responsible for that specific issue.

Skills and Abilities

  • Qualified Solicitor;
  • Experience of acting for clients in education law cases;
  • Excellent negotiating experience and skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience of promotion of solicitor’s work;
  • Efficient and cost‑effective work practices;
  • Knowledge and use of time recording systems and IT;
  • Thorough understanding of the obligations, including ethical obligations, of working as a solicitor.
