The Associate is positioned in UK Insurance, part of UK Corporate Banking Clients (CBC), and reports to the Head of UK Insurance. UK Insurance is a coverage team within UK CBC and also part of global FI. For the FI sector, ABN AMRO pursues a pan-European client coverage strategy. The role of the Associate is to support the coverage bankers in achieving the teams’ objectives. This will be through a combination of internal work with product, risk and solutions partners and direct interaction with clients.

Key components of the role will include:

  • Acting as first point of contact for clients along with the senior bankers, co-ordinating introductions to and from other areas of the bank.
  • Leading in the preparation and creation of presentation materials as well as client and prospect analysis.
  • Actively supporting senior bankers in their day-to-day client interactions as well as on specific transactions.
  • Actively supporting senior bankers with internal product partner discussions to help ensure clients are appropriately serviced.
  • Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the bank’s various products and services and creating strong working relationships with internal partners.
  • Supporting senior bankers with the training and development of more junior team members.
  • Assisting with internal management information requests and client relationship management processes.
  • Working alongside senior bankers to maximise franchise development at external marketing and client networking events.
  • Working with senior bankers through the client onboarding and KYC processes to ensure successful and timely completion in line with bank and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding and complying with relevant internal and external policies, procedures and developing a strong appreciation as to how they impact the team.
  • Maintaining ongoing professional development and attending relevant training.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including to the head office in Amsterdam.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Your profile:

  • At least three years’ experience of working inside a client facing team, ideally at an established financial institution or professional services firm.
  • Experience with financial institutions customers.
  • Planning and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to question in an appropriate manner and contribute to improving standards and quality at all times.
  • Demonstrable understanding of credit and risk related elements and processes.
  • Keen awareness and desire to build relevant industry related knowledge.
  • Affinity towards financial services.
  • Solid understanding of economics and the general market environment, including ability to understand how conditions might impact the Bank’s clients.
  • Solid understanding of the various banking products and services available to Corporate clients.
  • Knowledge of current social and economic developments, relevant industry and sector understanding.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and contribute to the performance of the team.
