About the Company
Our client is an established and growing construction contractor specialising in reinforced concrete frames, groundworks, demolition and complex cut and carve projects. With a turnover exceeding £50 million, they deliver civil engineering, commercial and residential schemes across London, the Midlands and the South East. Project values typically range from £5 million to £20 million. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join their in-house design team.
About the Role
You will be responsible for producing safe, practical and cost-effective temporary works designs across a variety of technically challenging construction projects. Working closely with site teams, Temporary Works Coordinators, consultants and suppliers, you will manage the design process from the initial brief through to construction issue.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Producing temporary works designs, calculations, drawings and construction methodologies
- Designing formwork, falsework, slipform, demolition and cut and carve solutions
- Undertaking structural and geotechnical design, including FEM analysis
- Liaising with site teams and Temporary Works Coordinators to understand project requirements
- Supporting projects with complex or unusual temporary works solutions
- Producing AutoCAD drawings for construction and tender submissions
- Ensuring designs comply with current standards, CDM regulations and company procedures
- Carrying out occasional site visits and supplementary inspections
About the Requirements
- Minimum 4–5 years’ temporary works design experience with a construction contractor
- Strong experience with formwork, falsework, slipform, demolition and cut and carve projects
- Excellent AutoCAD skills and experience with FEM analysis
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of construction methodology and temporary loading
- Experience using Tekla Tedds, Revit or CADS would be beneficial
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Chartered status is beneficial but not essential
