The successful candidate will provide leadership across the entire project lifecycle, driving programme, commercial performance, quality, safety and client satisfaction while leading a high-performing project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a £70M+ commercial fit-out and refurbishment project from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
- Lead, inspire and manage the project leadership team, ensuring clear direction, accountability and high performance across all disciplines.
- Develop and implement the overall project delivery strategy, ensuring programme, commercial and operational objectives are achieved.
- Build and maintain exceptional relationships with the client, consultants, design teams and key stakeholders, acting as the primary senior point of contact throughout the project.
- Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance are embedded across all project activities.
- Oversee project programming, resource planning and delivery, identifying risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Provide strategic leadership on commercial performance, working closely with commercial teams to manage budgets, forecasting, change control and project profitability.
- Chair senior project meetings, client reviews and executive progress updates, providing clear reporting to business leadership.
- Drive quality assurance throughout the project, ensuring the finished product exceeds client expectations.
- Lead the resolution of complex operational and technical challenges, ensuring successful project outcomes.
- Mentor and develop senior project staff, promoting collaboration, continuous improvement and best practice across the project.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager leading major commercial fit-out, refurbishment or retrofit projects.
- Demonstrable experience successfully delivering projects valued at £50M+ within the commercial construction sector.
- Outstanding leadership skills with a track record of managing large, multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financial performance, risk and contractual matters.
- Excellent programme management and strategic planning abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Building, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional memberships and relevant industry certifications would be advantageous.
