Mechanical Project Engineer – Water Industry
The Role
We're currently recruiting for a Mechanical Project Engineer with experience in the front end of project delivery.
You’ll play a key part in shaping projects before they reach construction, working closely with operations, design teams and clients to define the most practical, cost-effective engineering solutions across water and wastewater treatment sites.
Duties
- Carrying out mechanical site surveys and asset condition assessments.
- Developing project scopes and engineering solutions.
- Producing feasibility studies and optioneering reports.
- Defining mechanical equipment replacements and upgrade strategies.
- Supporting outline and detailed design teams with practical engineering input.
- Preparing budgets, estimates and technical scopes for tender.
- Working alongside commercial and delivery teams during pre-construction.
- Providing technical support throughout construction and commissioning.
- Liaising with water company clients, operations teams and subcontractors.
- Ensuring solutions comply with client standards and current legislation.
You’ll ideally have experience in
- Mechanical Project Engineering within the UK water industry.
- Scoping or front-end engineering.
- Water or wastewater treatment works.
- Pumps, pipework, valves, screens, dosing systems, tanks or process equipment.
- Site surveys and asset inspections.
- Cost estimating and project planning.
- Working on AMP frameworks.
