Mechanical Project Engineer – Water Industry

The Role

We're currently recruiting for a Mechanical Project Engineer with experience in the front end of project delivery.

You’ll play a key part in shaping projects before they reach construction, working closely with operations, design teams and clients to define the most practical, cost-effective engineering solutions across water and wastewater treatment sites.

Duties

  • Carrying out mechanical site surveys and asset condition assessments.
  • Developing project scopes and engineering solutions.
  • Producing feasibility studies and optioneering reports.
  • Defining mechanical equipment replacements and upgrade strategies.
  • Supporting outline and detailed design teams with practical engineering input.
  • Preparing budgets, estimates and technical scopes for tender.
  • Working alongside commercial and delivery teams during pre-construction.
  • Providing technical support throughout construction and commissioning.
  • Liaising with water company clients, operations teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring solutions comply with client standards and current legislation.

You’ll ideally have experience in

  • Mechanical Project Engineering within the UK water industry.
  • Scoping or front-end engineering.
  • Water or wastewater treatment works.
  • Pumps, pipework, valves, screens, dosing systems, tanks or process equipment.
  • Site surveys and asset inspections.
  • Cost estimating and project planning.
  • Working on AMP frameworks.
