Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager – Residential

Location – Manchester

About the Company

Our client is an established residential construction contractor specialising in the delivery of high-quality Design & Build projects. The business has developed a strong reputation for delivering residential developments with a focus on quality, programme, commercial control, and client satisfaction.

With an expanding portfolio of residential projects ranging from Β£5m to Β£100m, the business is now looking to strengthen its commercial and project delivery team with an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant QS / Project Manager looking to develop their career across both the commercial and operational sides of residential construction.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the commercial and project management teams across residential D&B projects
  • Assisting with project budgets, cost control, valuations, and forecasting
  • Supporting subcontract procurement and supply chain management
  • Assisting with the preparation of CVRs and commercial reports
  • Monitoring project progress against programme and budget
  • Supporting the management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Working closely with site and project teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Assisting with variations, valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Supporting the Project Manager and Senior QS throughout the project lifecycle
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Assistant QS / Project Manager will have:

  • Previous experience within residential construction
  • Experience within either Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a combination of both
  • Exposure to Design & Build projects would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction processes
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good IT and Microsoft Excel skills
  • A proactive attitude and desire to develop within the business
  • Relevant construction or Quantity Surveying qualification would be advantageous
