A leading engineering company specialising in the waste water, water treatment, and environmental sectors is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Installer to join its growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or Mechanical Installer with experience installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment on waste water, water treatment, utilities, or industrial engineering projects. Working hours: 40 – 48 hours a week

The Role:

As a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Installer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment across waste water treatment works, pumping stations, and other engineering sites. Working alongside experienced Mechanical Engineers and installation teams, you will install and maintain a wide range of mechanical systems while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high engineering standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of mechanical equipment on waste water and water treatment sites
  • Mechanical fitting of pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, pipework, and associated mechanical systems
  • Mechanical maintenance, servicing, and repair of engineering equipment
  • Mechanical fault finding and troubleshooting
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and mechanical schematics
  • Installing and aligning rotating mechanical equipment
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Supporting breakdowns and reactive mechanical repairs
  • Working closely with Mechanical Engineers, Site Engineers, and Project Engineers
  • Ensuring all installation and mechanical engineering work complies with Health & Safety requirements
  • Completing risk assessments and following method statements

Requirements:

  • Engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Installer, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, or Industrial Fitter
  • Experience working within waste water, water treatment, utilities, process engineering, industrial engineering, or heavy engineering environments
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, mechanical pipework, and rotating equipment
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • EUSR Water Hygiene, IPAF, PASMA, Confined Space, or Abrasive Wheels tickets are advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and within an engineering team
