About the Role

A BMS / BEMS Engineer is required to join an established smart building and building controls team, working primarily across major commercial projects in London. The BMS / BEMS Engineer will be involved in the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning and support of building management and energy management systems. The role will involve working closely with project managers, electrical and mechanical teams, commissioning engineers, subcontractors and clients to ensure systems are delivered correctly and operate as intended. The BMS / BEMS Engineer will work across technically complex commercial environments, with the opportunity to gain experience across BMS, BEMS and wider smart building integration.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, configuring and commissioning BMS and BEMS systems
  • Carrying out point-to-point testing and system checks
  • Testing sensors, actuators, controllers and associated field devices
  • Diagnosing faults and resolving BMS control issues
  • Working with HVAC controls and associated mechanical services
  • Supporting integrated testing and commissioning activities
  • Carrying out software configuration and system modifications
  • Assisting with graphics, trends, alarms and system functionality
  • Working with engineers and project teams to resolve technical issues
  • Liaising with clients and other site teams during commissioning
  • Completing testing documentation and commissioning records
  • Supporting handover and ensuring systems are operating correctly
  • Providing technical support following installation where required
  • Working across different BMS and controls platforms depending on project requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a BMS or BEMS Engineer
  • Strong practical experience within building controls
  • Experience working on commercial buildings or commercial fit-out projects
  • Good understanding of HVAC control systems
  • Experience with BMS installation, configuration and commissioning
  • Ability to fault-find and diagnose control system issues
  • Experience with one or more recognised BMS platforms
  • Tridium, Trend, Distech, SAUTER or similar experience would be advantageous
  • Understanding of energy management and smart building systems
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently on site
  • A professional approach when dealing with clients and other project stakeholders
