About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant Fitter to join a leading mineral exploration drilling contractor based in Cornwall.
Working within a busy workshop and supporting drilling operations across the UK, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of heavy plant, drilling equipment and support vehicles, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and ready for deployment.

Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair heavy plant, drilling rigs and associated equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
- Inspect equipment and complete repair reports.
- Replace and overhaul engines, transmissions, pumps and hydraulic components.
- Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
- Ensure all equipment meets company safety standards before deployment.
- Work closely with drilling crews to minimise equipment downtime.
- Maintain workshop housekeeping and comply with health and safety procedures.
- Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer or Plant Mechanic.
- Experience working on heavy plant, construction, quarrying, mining or drilling equipment.
- Strong hydraulic, diesel engine and mechanical fault-finding skills.
- Ability to diagnose and repair equipment independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Experience working on drilling rigs or mineral exploration equipment.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, Atlas Copco, Sandvik or Epiroc equipment.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Electrical diagnostics.
- HGV licence (advantageous but not essential).
