Senior Electrical Design Engineer β Glasgow
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business delivering innovative civils, utility, renewable energy and power infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer looking to play a key role in the design and delivery of complex electrical infrastructure schemes while providing technical leadership and mentoring within a collaborative engineering team.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, supporting the delivery of electrical design services from concept through to commissioning. You will work closely with clients, project managers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across a range of utility-scale energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of electrical EPC and ICP designs from concept through to detailed design.
- Act as the technical authority for electrical engineering across multiple projects.
- Carry out and review electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, dynamic system and grid compliance studies.
- Produce and review high-quality electrical design documentation and calculations.
- Ensure designs comply with UK Grid Code, relevant standards and client specifications.
- Support tender submissions, procurement activities and project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and network operators throughout project delivery.
- Assist with resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years' experience in electrical design within utilities, power or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong understanding of UK Grid Code, electrical design standards and Distribution Network Operator requirements.
- Experience using power system modelling software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD or similar packages.
- Excellent technical, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
