Our independent tunnelling contractor client is seeking a Planner to be based out of Coventry supporting on a range of projects supporting Water industry clients on a permanent basis.
Our client specialises in Microtunnelling, Auger Boring, Shaft Sinking, Pipe Jacking, and traditional tunnelling methods.
They deliver a comprehensive range of services to the water and civil engineering industries across the UK & Ireland - providing fully integrated project solutions - from segmental shafts to full project management and final landscaping - tailored to meet the needs of complex engineering environments.
The Planner will join a Coventry-based team on a permanent basis.
With hybrid working available, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project programmes that support the safe and efficient delivery of tunnelling and civil engineering schemes from covering tendering, pre-construction, delivery, and completion phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Support tender submissions by producing bid programmes, methodologies, and sequencing strategies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure accurate and achievable schedules.
- Monitor progress, identify delays or risks, and propose effective mitigation measures.
- Produce programme updates, dashboards, look-ahead schedules, and client-ready reports.
- Assist with planning specialist tunnelling operations (Microtunnelling, Pipe Jacking, Shaft Sinking, Auger Boring).
- Conduct site visits to verify progress and maintain accurate as-built programme records.
- Ensure all planning outputs align with company standards, NEC contract requirements, and client expectations.
Skills/experience/qualifications
- Proven experience in planning within civil engineering, infrastructure, or tunnelling.
- Strong proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong analytical mindset and high attention to detail.
- Experience in water industry or specialist tunnelling projects.
- Knowledge of NEC contract requirements.
- Relevant engineering or construction qualifications.
