About the Role

As Senior Student Wellbeing Advisor you will support students through challenging personal circumstances. You will provide crucial pastoral care and help students access the services they need, including external agencies such as healthcare providers, local authorities, and charities. This role requires a deep understanding of student wellbeing, with a focus on complex cases, ensuring students receive high-quality, personalised support.

What You\’ll Do:

  • Deliver operational student wellbeing services addressing a wide range of issues, including mental health, financial difficulties, bullying, harassment, and disability support.
  • Manage a caseload of students with complex needs, providing tailored 1:1 support both online and in person.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wellbeing trends and services, ensuring you offer expert advice to students and the wider team.
  • Staff drop-in services, offering immediate support to students.
  • Accurately document student interactions, referrals, and outcomes in compliance with data protection policies.
  • Assess and triage student cases, escalating concerns and high-risk cases when necessary.
  • Collaborate with academic and campus teams to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Promote awareness of university support services and lead student wellbeing initiatives, workshops, and interventions.
  • Support with administration tasks related to policies and processes, including managing hardship funds, bursaries, and accommodation queries.
  • Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion in all wellbeing activities, advocating for student needs.

What You\’ll Bring:

  • A good standard of general education, with a strong understanding of student wellbeing services in Higher Education.
  • Experience supporting young adults, with knowledge of the challenges they commonly face.
  • A comprehensive understanding of specialist support areas, such as mental health, and experience delivering services related to them.
  • An empathetic, inclusive approach with a genuine passion for student wellbeing.
  • Strong administrative, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-demand workload with resilience and a proactive attitude.
  • Team player who is comfortable working with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Willingness to work towards a Level 2 counselling qualification if not already held.

This role is a Fixed Term Contract until April 2026.
