About The Role
MetFilm School Brighton, part of BIMM University, is looking for design lecturers as well as industry experts who may be new to teaching to work on a freelance basis on the BA, Production Design for Film and Screen. Opportunities are available for regular teaching starting September 2026, as well as covering teaching/deputising and guest lecturing on an ad hoc basis. Our production design degree teaches a broad range of specialist art department skills, and we are looking for new members to join our friendly team as the course expands. The University provides internal training and professional development for all lecturers, especially those new to teaching. If you have a graduate or postgraduate qualification then this will be advantageous, but this is not a prerequisite.
We Have Opportunities Across The Following Subject Areas:
- Production design: research, design, visualisation
- Art direction: drafting, surveying, plans and elevations, set construction
- Set decoration: dressing plans, buying, prop sourcing, set dressing
- Art department logistics: planning, scheduling, budgets, risk assessments
- Drawing and painting: concept art, storyboarding, visualisation, life drawing
- Digital design: Sketchup, 3D modelling and rendering, VR
- Modelmaking: scale models, white card models, prop making
- Costume: character design, costume design, sourcing and makes
- Graphic design: graphic props, Adobe Design Suite
- Animation: stop motion, puppet making
- Film: animatics, green screen, standby work, editing
Contractual Hours
Freelance, variable hours depending on subject area and student numbers.
