The Building & Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation, maintenance and presentation of campus buildings and associated resources. The role provides operational leadership to the Building & Maintenance team, ensuring that facilities are safe, functional and effectively support teaching, learning and campus activity.

What You'll Do:

  • Working within established University policies and procedures, the postholder acts as a first point of contact for building and maintenance services on campus, providing guidance to colleagues, coordinating activity, and resolving operational issues.
  • The role contributes to local health and safety compliance, contractor oversight and service improvement, working closely with the Campus Operations Manager and Health & Safety colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Good standard of general education, including English and Maths.
  • Experience of coordinating building, maintenance or facilities activities in a complex environment.
  • Experience of supervising or providing day-to-day guidance to colleagues.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work, responding effectively to changing demands.
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors and service teams.
  • Competent digital literacy, including use of operational or record-keeping systems.
  • Practical understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to building and maintenance activities.

The postholder will have strong practical and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate people, resources and activity in a busy campus environment. They will demonstrate sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving ability, alongside the confidence to provide guidance to others and manage competing operational demands. The role requires a collaborative approach and a clear understanding of the impact of buildings and facilities on the wider campus experience.
