As a Student Support Advisor, you’ll provide frontline pastoral and wellbeing support to students navigating a range of personal and practical challenges. Working within a centrally coordinated, digital‑first service, you’ll play a key role in ensuring students feel heard, supported and guided to the right help at the right time. You’ll manage a varied caseload, offering structured support through assessment, triage and one‑to‑one sessions, while working closely with colleagues across the University and external services to deliver a consistent and compassionate student experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide empathetic, trauma‑informed support to students experiencing wellbeing, mental health or practical challenges
  • Manage a caseload, delivering one‑to‑one support sessions both online and in person
  • Carry out assessment and triage, identifying appropriate support and next steps
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case records using digital systems such as TargetConnect
  • Respond to student enquiries and contribute to drop‑in sessions
  • Refer students to internal or external specialist services as needed
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns in line with procedures and use sound judgement in managing risk
  • Work collaboratively with academic teams and external partners to support student outcomes
  • Contribute to workshops, initiatives and wider activities that promote wellbeing and inclusion
