A growing precision manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to support ongoing expansion. The role focuses on ensuring product compliance across the inspection function in line with engineering drawings, customer requirements, quality procedures, and the company Quality Management System. This position suits someone confident inspecting precision-engineered components and maintaining accurate, auditable quality records.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify conformity of parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings, QMS requirements, and customer specifications.
- Ensure all inspection records are completed accurately with full traceability.
- Support production teams with timely first-off verification.
- Create and compile First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Carry out inspection duties across all manufacturing and supply chain stages as required.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances in line with company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all Quality Assurance and HSE procedures.
- Process and manage process-and-return (P&R) documentation for externally processed parts.
- Escalate quality concerns to production management and quality engineering teams.
- Contribute to problem-solving activities, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
- Participate in New Product Introduction meetings, advising on inspection methodology.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives across the department.
Experience Requirements
- Ability to interpret and understand technical data including drawings, specifications, and FAIR documentation.
- Experience in goods inward inspection of precision components or finished products.
- Aerospace sector experience beneficial but not essential.
- Strong background in inspecting precision-engineered components to drawing requirements.
- Competent in using a wide range of inspection gauges and measuring equipment.
- Experience operating a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
- Experience with sheet metal or fabricated parts.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- HND or equivalent qualification desirable.
- Strong understanding of imperial and metric geometrical definitions.
- Good knowledge of inspection, testing, and examination techniques.
- Ability to interpret inspection results and sanction products accordingly.
- Confident in reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
- Ability to apply industry and quality standards relevant to inspection duties.
Additional Desirables
- Knowledge of precision aerospace manufacturing processes.
- Experience using Javelin or other ERP/MRP systems.
- Awareness of MSA, NDT, SPC, ISO/ASME standards.
- CMM programming capability.
