An advanced precision engineering business is seeking a highly skilled Cnc Miller Programmer Setter Operator with strong programming, setting, and operating capability on 5-axis Matsuura machining centres (MAM72-35V / MAM72-52V). This position is ideal for an experienced machinist confident working to complex aerospace-level tolerances and comfortable taking full ownership of machining processes from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set, and operate 5-axis Matsuura MAM72 machining centres to produce high-precision components.
  • Create and optimise CNC programmes using CAD/CAM software (e.g., CAMplete / Fusion / HyperMill or similar).
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, models, and specifications with strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Select tooling, workholding, and machining strategies to achieve optimal efficiency and surface finish.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, making adjustments to programmes and setups when required.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, perform basic maintenance, and follow all company safety standards.

Experience & Skill Requirements

  • Strong demonstrable experience programming, setting, and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines.
  • Direct experience on Matsuura MAM72-35V or MAM72-52V preferred (or similar high-spec 5-axis platforms).
  • Competence with CAD/CAM software for 5-axis toolpath creation.
  • Proven track record working to aerospace, motorsport, medical, or high-tolerance manufacturing standards.
  • Excellent understanding of CNC machining principles, cutting data, and materials (incl. aluminium & exotic alloys).
  • Confident problem-solver with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality-critical components.
