Job Overview
BDB is looking for an Associate Creative Director who can bring passion, confidence, leadership and inspiration to a creative team that’s already making waves.
As a creator-first social agency, we believe in building social strategy, creative and storytelling around creators. We’re not here to bolt them onto someone else’s idea, we shape the idea with creators from the start.
We’re looking for an experienced creative thinker who will improve our creative offering.
We need someone with a proven history of great conceptual work within the social space and who will lead from the front.
They’ll be responsible for developing ideas for our biggest and most complex creative briefs alongside mentoring and setting direction for other members of the creative team.
This person will deeply understand what consumers see as great content, which creators are currently making it, what it takes to develop it, and how brands can play a part in it.
They’ll know how to brief and collaborate with creators, giving enough structure to set a clear direction, but enough space for their personality and creativity to shine. They’ll believe that co-creation with talent can be a powerful brand-building tool and they’ll know what it takes to make that work.
Responsibilities
Creative Thinking

You’ll be the main creative thinker on BDBs largest and most complex creative briefs across a variety of marketing channels, all powered by creators.

You’ll be expected to develop and articulate compelling and original creative solutions for these projects with full autonomy.

You’ll be expected to understand and be able to develop creative ideas on three levels; executional, conceptual and business-level
Creative Direction, Leadership & Mentorship

You’ll qualify briefs for the creative team, and define the creative team output per project. Interrogating briefs to identify unseen creative opportunities and ensure that they create the environment for creative success

You’ll set creative direction and coach other team members to develop the best creative ideas they can, competently identifying core ideas within their thinking and guiding them with further development.

You’ll manage a team of diverse creatives on a day to day basis, discussing career progression, objective setting, and where necessary having difficult conversations situations to improve performance.

You’ll advocate for creativity and creative effectiveness, establishing yourself as a clear voice of authority for executional and conceptual creativity. This will involve proactively sharing great creative work with the global BDB team, and empowering everyone to achieve better creative ideas.
Client Relations

You’ll be comfortable and more than capable at building relationships with day-to-day clients at a brand level, establishing yourself as the creative point of content for all projects from that brand
Business & Commercial Understanding

You’ll have a deep commercial understanding of every idea you and your team are proposing (be it; the cost, the value to the brand beyond the brief, the reason that it will succeed, etc)
Skills & Attributes

Proven history of great conceptual work in the social space

Ability to work confidently in partnership with other creative & design team members and share learnings and knowledge with the entire agency

You’ll be experienced in working with Strategists, Client leads, Producers and Finance Managers in a general day-to-day capacity

You’ll also be expected to know a wide selection of creators/ influencers and the content they create, and continue building this knowledge throughout your role at BDB

You should also have a great knowledge of social/digital media channels; including those less adopted by the masses (eg. Discord).
