About us
Billinge Medical Practice is committed to providing safe, high-quality, personalised primary care and to placing patients at the centre of decisions about their care.
We are a GP training practice and a learning organisation. Education, supervision, reflective practice and shared learning are important parts of how we work. We want clinicians to feel able to ask questions, discuss uncertainty, raise concerns, learn from incidents and support one another to deliver consistently safe care.
Modern general practice depends on a broad multidisciplinary workforce. GPs are expected to work constructively with nursing teams, pharmacists, advanced practitioners, paramedics, physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, nursing associates, healthcare assistants, social prescribers, care coordinators and other allied health and wider neighbourhood professionals.
Teamworking does not dilute individual professional accountability. Each clinician remains responsible for working within their competence and professional standards, while contributing to clear communication, appropriate escalation, effective handover and safe shared care.

- Face-to-face, telephone, video and other clinically appropriate consultations.

- Mental health assessment and management within the scope of primary care.

- Home visits where clinically indicated and in accordance with Practice arrangements.
- Emergency assessment and treatment within the scope and resources of general practice.
- Appropriate referrals to secondary care, community services, mental health services, social care and other providers.
- Appropriate use of Advice and Guidance and locally agreed pathways where clinically suitable.
- Completion of clinical documentation, fit notes, certificates and other NHS paperwork arising from the patient's care.
