Who we are: Billigence is a boutique data consultancy with global reach, helping organisations transform the way they work with data. We specialise in delivering high-impact data solutions across Data Management, Data Governance, Cloud Data Platforms, AI Enablement, and Advanced Analytics. Headquartered in Sydney with offices across the UK, Europe, and APAC, Billigence partners with organisations to design and implement modern data capabilities that drive better decision-making and business outcomes. Our teams work on complex, enterprise-scale transformation programmes across industries including retail, financial services, and technology.

About the role: We are looking for an AI Governance Lead to support a major enterprise AI transformation programme through to March 2027. This role will work closely with senior leadership to help shape, establish, and operationalise AI governance standards, frameworks, and controls across the organisation. The environment is still relatively immature from an AI governance perspective, making this an opportunity for someone who can bring structure, pragmatism, and strong governance expertise into a rapidly evolving space. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the organisation move from high-level AI principles into practical governance processes, standards, and implementation.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the development and implementation of enterprise AI governance frameworks and standards
  • Translate high-level AI principles into practical governance processes and operating models
  • Work closely with business, legal, risk, security, data, and technology teams to ensure responsible AI practices are embedded
  • Help define governance controls around AI usage, data handling, model risk, compliance, and accountability
  • Advise stakeholders on AI governance best practices across emerging use cases
  • Support the creation of policies, standards, and decision-making frameworks for AI initiatives
  • Drive alignment between AI governance, data governance, and enterprise risk functions
  • Operate effectively within a fast-evolving and relatively immature AI governance environment
  • Support senior leadership in establishing scalable and sustainable governance capabilities

What you’ll need:

  • Strong experience within Data Governance, AI Governance, Risk, or Enterprise Data Management
  • Experience supporting AI, analytics, or data transformation programmes within large organisations
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, controls, policy development, and risk management
  • Ability to operate strategically while also supporting practical implementation
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders across business and technology functions
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles, regulatory considerations, and governance best practices
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience working within evolving or immature governance environments
  • Retail or enterprise-scale transformation experience is advantageous

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives and are committed to equal opportunities throughout the recruitment process.
