Role Purpose
The Head of Training & Education is responsible for the design, quality, delivery and commercial performance of Bill Plant’s national instructor training Academy and training ecosystem. This role owns the end-to-end trainee journey, from enrolment through qualification and beyond including supporting CPD and training programmes for ADIs. The successful candidate will ensure that Bill Plant produces safe, professional, commercially viable instructors, while protecting brand standards and regulatory integrity.
Key Accountabilities
- Training Strategy and Standards
- Own and evolve the national training framework for instructor qualification and development
- Define and protect standards of competence, readiness and progression
- Ensure consistency of outcomes across scale, channels and trainers
- Act as senior guardian of quality vs throughput decisions
- Trainee Journey Ownership
- Design and manage a clear, structured trainee pathway, including enrolment, learning phases, assessment gateways and qualification readiness
- Reduce drop-off through engagement, clarity and pacing
- Ensure training is rigorous, supportive and commercially realistic
- Digital Learning and Product Development
- Own the digital training roadmap, including online courses, video content, app-based learning and paid digital products
- Ensure learning design supports engagement, retention and measurable trainee and learner progress
- Work closely with Marketing and Tech teams
- Regulatory and Quality Assurance
- Maintain alignment with DVSA and regulatory expectations
- Lead audit readiness, compliance processes and quality reviews
- Set and enforce national definitions of “Competent”, “Test ready” and “Qualified”
- Confidently manage failure, remediation and exit where required
- Trainer Capability and Consistency
- Recruit, develop and performance-manage salaried and franchised trainers
- Ensure trainers teach to standard, not personal preference
- Build a strong internal culture of professionalism and accountability
- Create clear frameworks for trainer development and progression
- Commercial Contribution
- Recognise that training is a revenue-generating, cost-sensitive function
- Balance, conversion, retention, lifetime value and brand protection
- Contribute to pricing, packaging and programme design decisions
- Use data to improve outcomes without diluting standards
- Leadership and Influence
- Act as a senior leader within Bill Plant
- Communicate confidently with trainers, trainees and regulators
- Represent Bill Plant externally where required
- Build credibility through clarity, fairness and consistency
