The Foundation
We are the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise: people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives. We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation‐paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities. As a workplace, we are committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Team
The Global Policy and Advocacy (GPA) division shapes the policy landscape surrounding the foundation's work. We influence public debates, strengthen support for key priorities, and forge partnerships that accelerate impact at national and global levels. Because solving the world's toughest challenges requires more than funding alone, GPA mobilizes diverse stakeholders and champions innovative solutions that move our programs forward. We collaborate closely with colleagues across Global Health, Global Development, Global Growth & Opportunity, U.S. Programs, Gender Equality, and Foundation Communications—creating the conditions for people everywhere to live healthier, more prosperous lives.

The Europe, Middle East, and East Asia (EMEEA) team anchors the foundation's presence across major donor markets outside North America and China. Covering Europe (including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Nordics, the Netherlands, and EU institutions), the Middle East (Arab League countries), and Asia‐Pacific (Japan, South Korea, and Australia), EMEEA connects foundation strategy with regional realities. We provide deep geopolitical insight, track media and public sentiment, and lead high‐impact campaigns aligned to our advocacy priorities. Working alongside an extensive network of grantees and partners—spanning media, civil society, think tanks, and academia, we help translate strategy into momentum.

Your Role
In May 2025, the Gates Foundation sharpened its focus around three bold goals to:
1. End preventable deaths of moms and babies
2. Ensure the next generation grows up free from deadly infectious diseases
3. Lift millions out of poverty and onto a path to prosperity

A). Achieving this vision demands fresh thinking and powerful engagement, from global leaders, influencers and policymakers to new public audience(s); in new places and spaces, particularly popular culture, new media, and sport and entertainment; and in new ways that we have not considered yet!

B). Within EMEEA, we are piloting an exciting new role that brings a public campaigning mindset to our regional work. You will partner with a small geographical and cross‐functional team spanning insights and measurement, communications, and political and advocacy strategy. You will work to the Deputy Director for Insights, Campaigns and Communications with a dotted line to both the GPA and Comms Divisions in Seattle. Together, you will design integrated campaigns that spark attention, build coalitions, and create meaningful public momentum that creates a positive policy‐making environment for this priority.

C). You play a key role in developing a campaign plan for a global renewed push on saving the lives of moms and babies – harnessing political moments – but also cultivating partnerships across entertainment, creative industries, private sector leaders, and media platforms of all kinds—and helping to further build up a champions program that resonates and expands our reach and ultimately ladders up to influencing the policy space. This work spans EMEEA markets and connects with teams in North America, Africa, and India.

This role is ideal for someone bold, inventive, and action‐oriented—someone who can craft compelling strategies and turn ideas into results. You understand how governments and multilateral systems operate, and you will bring proven experience leading audience‐driven campaigns across multiple markets. You must be comfortable with, even thrive in, uncertainty and complexity, recognizing that we will be co‐creating this body of work together and so flexibility, willingness to change and evolve, and adaptability are central.

At the interview you will demonstrate how you have cut through crowded information environments with creative, high‐impact campaigns. You will show how you have built engagement, increased visibility, and generated measurable momentum—mobilizing audiences and forging coalitions that deliver real‐world change. Experience in philanthropy, science, global health, or development is welcome but not required.

• Oversee client‐agency relationships, consolidate feedback, and track timelines and deliverables.
• Coordinate cross‐functional marketing plans spanning channels, regional offices, media, and advocacy partners.
• Partner with audience insights leads measuring impact, analyze engagement data, and translate findings into smarter future campaigns.
• Champion an inclusive team culture and proactively address challenges.
