About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Platform / Site Reliability Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the reliability, operational support and gradual modernization of established platforms.
The role is primarily focused on maintaining and supporting a legacy Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP (LAMP) environment , including troubleshooting, break-fix and operational support. Alongside this, you will play an important role in containerizing existing scripts and services using Docker and supporting their migration to modern AWS infrastructure .
This is a hands-on platform and operations role focused on pragmatic modernization rather than a wholesale application rewrite.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the existing LAMP platform, Linux servers, scripts and services .
Provide hands-on operational support and break-fix activities to maintain service continuity.
Improve the reliability, stability and maintainability of the existing legacy environment.
Containerize existing scripts and services using Docker for deployment on AWS infrastructure.
Support incremental re-platforming and cloud migration , including lift-and-shift and selective modernization.
Work across web servers, databases, operating systems and operational scripts to identify and resolve issues.
Take ownership of technical issues and drive them through to resolution with minimal supervision.
Work effectively in environments where documentation or formal handover may be limited.
Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide appropriate updates on operational issues.
Help establish more robust and maintainable approaches to platform operations and deployment.
