Overview
In this role you lead mechanical and piping engineering on multi-discipline EPCM/EPC projects from concept to execution, delivering compliant design solutions across Oil & Gas, Renewable Natural Gas, and Utilities. You mentor engineers, ensure design quality, and engage in design reviews to drive on-time, within-budget outcomes. You will navigate UK regulations and standards while shaping robust mechanical packages for client acceptance. This position supports Bilfinger’s sustainability-focused vision by delivering safe, efficient process solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver mechanical and piping design within multi-discipline EPCM/EPC projects from concept to execution design
- Ensure design deliverables meet quality standards and are approved by competent personnel
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations and relevant standards (ASME, BS EN, IGEM where applicable)
- Represent mechanical discipline in change management, change events, and estimation inputs
- Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews
- Provide independent technical decisions and expert support within the mechanical & piping team
- Contribute to the development of basis of design, scope of works, calculations, drawings, 3D models, and safety/compliance studies
- Coordinate with Civil, Structural, EC&I, and Process disciplines to align workstreams
- Assist with vendor technical bids and delivery oversight for mechanical equipment packages
- Support CDM, PED/PE(S)R regulatory requirements and client acceptance processes
Key requirements
- Lead/Principal Engineer experience in multi-discipline projects
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent preferred
- Experience with engineering standards, IGEM preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and design practices
- Understanding of Civil, Structural, EC&I and Process interfaces
- Proficiency in mechanical specs, basis of design, scope, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, vendor analysis, design risk assessments, safety studies
- Experience applying piping and vessel design codes to ASME and BS EN standards
- Experience with external vendor package delivery oversight
- Familiarity with CDM, PED, PESR requirements; client-facing design reviews
- Strong time management and team planning能力

- Ability to present and chair design reviews; capable of meeting UK security clearance (preferred)
