Mitsubishi Chemicals UK is building a new production plant adjacent to their existing plant on Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull, named the PUMA project.

Position: Materials Controller – responsible for the supply, storage and distribution of materials in support of the project’s construction activities and logistical movements between off‑site storage and the construction site in line with the construction schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee a team responsible for the management and distribution of materials on and off site.
  • Liaise with the client team to ensure timely delivery of free‑issue materials in line with the project schedule.
  • Provide the primary site/warehouse interface for the site’s materials management.
  • Maintain day‑to‑day materials control that meets site‑planned objectives and complies with Project Materials Procedure.
  • Handle manifests, requisitions, repairs, rentals and stockholding.
  • Identify database issues to the support team, and assist with purchasing and warehousing.
  • Promote alignment and adherence of client inventory processes to site personnel.
  • Ensure facilities are in place for storage of hazardous material and that environmental protection and clean‑up measures are implemented.
  • Distribute materials from the warehouse to the site in accordance with construction requirements.
  • Liaise with site supervision to ensure correct placement of materials as they are distributed from the project warehouse.
  • Maintain and update temporary equipment register in accordance with site procedure.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • Apply Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and Safety Management Systems to all aspects of the logistics process.
  • Participate in site/platform planning meetings to understand materials distribution priorities.
  • Carry out site inspections to ensure that materials are being utilised at the locations defined by end users and are not being degraded by non‑usage or inadequate storage.
