Overview
As Materials Controller, you will oversee the supply, storage and distribution of materials for the PUMA project in Hull. You’ll act as the primary site/warehouse interface, coordinating with the client team to meet the project schedule. You will lead material activities on and off site, ensuring safe storage and compliant handling of inventories and hazardous materials. This role combines hands-on logistics with team leadership to support a large-scale mechanical construction effort. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders to keep materials flowing—driving on-time delivery and effective planning.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a team responsible for materials management on and off site
- Coordinate with client team to ensure timely delivery of free issue materials per project schedule
- Serve as primary site/warehouse interface for materials management
- Manage day-to-day materials control to meet site objectives per Project Materials Procedure
- Handle manifests, requisitions, repairs, rentals, and stockholding
- Identify and report database issues to the support team, including purchasing and warehousing
- Promote alignment of client inventory processes with site personnel
- Ensure appropriate facilities for hazardous materials storage and environmental protection measures
- Distribute materials from warehouse to site in line with construction requirements
- Coordinate with site supervision for correct material placement at end locations
- Maintain/update temporary equipment register per site procedure
- Demonstrate commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment and apply related policies
- Participate in site/planner meetings to understand distribution priorities
