Role Purpose
The Insulation Superintendent is responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of all insulation activities on site. The role ensures that insulation works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with client site specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage Insulation Supervisors, Trades Personnel (TIEs), Apprentices and General Labourers across multiple work fronts and Site locations.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance management to site teams.
- Coordinate with other contractors / disciplines to ensure alignment.
- Execution
- Plan and schedule insulation activities in line with the overall maintenance and or projects program.
- Monitor progress, productivity, and manpower levels, adjusting resources as required.
- Coordinate insulation works with other disciplines to avoid clashes and delays.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce strict adherence to site safety policies, procedures, and permit systems.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety observations, and incident investigations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE regulations and client requirements.
- Meet site safety performance targets (zero harm).
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure insulation installation meets drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Monitor completed work and address defects or non-conformances promptly.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to support inspection and handover documentation.
- Promote quality compliance and rework reduction.
- Cost & Productivity Control
- Monitor labour productivity.
- Assist in controlling costs and minimizing rework and waste.
- Provide input into forecasts, progress reports, and variation assessments.
- Communication & Reporting
- Liaise with Site Supervision and Scheduling teams to provide accurate progress reports.
- Work with Scheduler and Cost Engineer to meet Schedule adherence and productivity targets.
- Raise technical or execution issues early and propose practical solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as an Insulation Superintendent, Supervisor, or similar senior site role.
- Trade qualification or technical certification in insulation.
- Strong background in industrial and oil & gas.
- Solid understanding of insulation systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capability.
- Sound knowledge of HSE requirements and safe work practices.
Desirable
- Site safety leadership training (IOSH or NEBOSH).
- Experience working on large-scale or multi-discipline projects / Contracts.
