The Role

You will be required to provide technical support to client and service engineers, whilst predominantly calibrating, repairing and servicing systems in the laboratory (mostly GC instrumentation) and when required attend site. You will be required after training to join our helpline team rota to provide 24/7 cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with client and service engineers directly and indirectly via telephone and email.
  • Compile all reports/documentation and dispatch in a timely manner for all customer related activities including repairs and technical support.
  • Comply with the organisation’s QA and SHE systems and support required updates as the business develops.
  • Prepare Pre-FAT/test equipment and perform FATs with client present.
  • Support Pre-FAT, FAT pre-commissioning and commissioning activities both at our facility and on site (where necessary).
  • Provide remote customer support for reactive maintenance.
  • Work in the lab to strip down and overhaul Process Gas Analysers, Regulators and control valve equipment.
  • Programming and configuration of flow computers/PLCs to support project work and reactive maintenance through fault finding.
  • Undertake any duties within skill set as required.
  • Support the admin team and take ownership of more technically complex customer orders.
  • May be required to attend site or off site meetings.
  • Flexibility will be required at times to go to site to carry out service/commissioning duties.
  • May be required to attend training courses relevant to the position in the UK or outside UK.
  • When successfully trained on a relevant discipline join the 24/7 helpline team.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Although not essential it would be advantageous if the candidate had previous experience of working on Odourisation systems and chromatography.
  • 2 years minimum working in a technical role within the gas industry.
  • Experience or knowledge of PLCs.
  • 18th Edition / Inspection & Test / Compex.
  • Project Management.
  • Order Management.
  • HNC / HND in Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical Engineering or comparable laboratory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 x GCSEs at A* - C including Maths, English & Science.
  • Computer literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong fault-finding skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and set deadlines.
