We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical & Piping Completions Engineer to deliver the discipline‑specific construction‑to‑commissioning handover for all mechanical and piping scope on the Highview Power (HVP) Liquid Air Energy Storage project at Carrington.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical & Piping Systemisation
    • Populate and maintain the completions database for all mechanical and piping systems and sub‑systems aligned with the Highview Power KKS tag structure and the construction sequence (Zones 3, 5 and 7 for Stability Island Phase 1).
    • Cover the full M&P scope: rotating equipment (turbine train, generator, flywheel), static equipment (vessels, heat exchangers, coolers, GSUT pads, IPB mechanical), piping systems (lube oil, control oil, cooling water, fire water, instrument air, vents and drains), structural steel and pipe supports.
    • Maintain the discipline‑specific document register linking P&IDs, isometrics, line lists, pipe support drawings, datasheets and vendor manuals to each M&P system and sub‑system.
    • Issue weekly M&P completions progress to the Senior Completions Engineer, with forecast vs actual completion curves by system.
  • ITRs & Handover Dossiers
    • Develop, issue and control Mechanical & Piping ITRs / QC checksheets in line with the project Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and the ITR library approved by the Senior Completions Engineer.
    • Ensure ITRs align with project specifications, vendor requirements (MAN Energy Solutions, Baker Hughes/EVERLLENCE, GSUT, IPB) and applicable codes – in particular ASME B31.3, BS EN 13480, PED 2014/68/EU and PSSR 2000.
    • Compile M&P System Turnover Packages (STPs) / Mechanical Completion dossiers (LTQRs) including signed ITRs, NDT records, pressure test packs, flushing and cleaning records, lubrication records, alignment records, redline P&IDs and as‑built isometrics.
    • Submit completed STPs to the Senior Completions Engineer for sign‑off and onward issue to the Client.
  • Walkdowns & Punch List – M&P Scope
    • Plan, lead and document M&P discipline walkdowns at Ready for Walkdown (RFW), Mechanical Completion (MC) and Ready for Start‑Up (RFSU) stages with the Mechanical and Piping Superintendents, QA/QC, Commissioning, the Client and Vendors.
    • Manage the M&P punch list – A, B and C items – from raising to clearance, with clear ownership, target dates and verification evidence uploaded to the completions database.
    • Enforce the project rule that no system is energised, pressurised or commissioned with open A‑punch items.
    • Coordinate M&P punch list close‑out across mechanical and piping subcontractors.
  • Commissioning Interface – M&P Scope
    • Engage daily with the Commissioning Manager and Highview Power’s commissioning team on all M&P handover matters.
    • Sequence M&P handovers to suit the commissioning critical path – cold commissioning of lube oil, control oil and cooling water; flushing and oil flushing; hydrostatic and pneumatic testing; turbine train alignment and barring; flywheel preservation and spin‑up; generator first synchronisation.
    • Manage the technical handover interface with MAN Energy Solutions and Baker Hughes/EVERLLENCE on rotating equipment systems.
    • Support QA/QC in resolving M&P NCRs and TQs that affect completions status.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical, Piping or M&P Completions Engineer on major mechanical, process or power projects (oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, EfW, hydrogen, energy storage or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of the mechanical and piping construction‑to‑commissioning handover process: RFW, MC, RFSU, system acceptance.
  • Proven hands‑on user of a recognised completions management system (WinPCS, GoCompletions, Hexagon Smart Completions, Cora, Coreworx, MIPS or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and piping scope – able to read and challenge P&IDs, isometrics, line lists, pipe support drawings, equipment GAs and rotating equipment datasheets.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of mechanical and piping QC activities – weld inspection, NDT, pressure testing (hydrostatic and pneumatic), flushing and cleaning, alignment, bolt tensioning and torquing.
  • Experience compiling and issuing M&P LTQR / handover dossiers to client standards.
  • Strong written English and reporting skills.
  • CSCS card (Supervisor or Manager grade).
  • SSSTS or SMSTS.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
  • Previous experience on a first‑of‑a‑kind, FOAK or novel‑technology project (LAES, hydrogen, CCS, large‑scale battery or similar).
  • Direct experience handing over rotating equipment to MAN Energy Solutions, Baker Hughes/EVERLLENCE or other major OEMs.
  • Working knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR‑zoned plant and the additional completions evidence required on mechanical scope.
  • CSWIP 3.1, PCN/ASNT NDT awareness or welding/inspection background.
  • Recognised engineering qualification – HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical, Process or Chemical Engineering.
  • ECITB / IChemE Project Completions or Commissioning training.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
