Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Business Unit’s service delivery functions, ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of all operational activities across integrated and specialist service lines. The role is accountable for technical governance, operational excellence, contract performance, digital transformation, and resource management, while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.The position drives continuous improvement, innovation, and business growth through effective leadership of technical experts, operational teams, and key stakeholders. It also plays a pivotal role in developing customer relationships, supporting business development activities, optimising commercial performance, and building a high-performing culture that delivers sustainable value for clients and the wider organisation.ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership and Service DeliveryLead and manage the service delivery of all operational support departments to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of servicesResponsible for the technical delivery of contracts, predominantly long-term service agreements, across both integrated and standalone service linesManage all specialist service offerings, including industrial cleaning, door maintenance, habitats, and other niche operational servicesEnsure operational excellence through robust performance management, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective communication processesDrive safety performance across all operations, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance are consistently achievedFull Operational delivery responsibility and customer interface on certain allocated accounts – will fluctuate but expected to equate to c.30% - 40% of timeAct as a visible role model for safety leadership and exemplary behavioural standards throughout the business.Technical Governance and Operational ExcellenceLead and manage the Business Unit's technical authorities and subject matter expertsOwn and maintain core operational processes, procedures, and project management standards to ensure consistency and complianceEstablish, promote, and continuously improve innovation, best practices, and technical standards across the Business Unit and wider Business AreaMonitor and improve operational performance through the implementation of industry-leading practices, technologies, and methodologiesDigitalisation and InnovationDevelop and implement digitalisation strategies for core business processes across onshore and offshore operationsLead the adoption and optimisation of hardware and software solutions that improve operational efficiency, project delivery, and business performanceIdentify, assess, and implement opportunities to enhance service offerings and expand organisational capability, including the introduction of new services and technologiesCommercial and Contract ManagementJointly manage strategic supplier contracts in collaboration with Procurement and Commercial functions, ensuring optimal performance, value, and risk managementProvide operational leadership and technical expertise during tendering activities, including technical submissions, solution development, estimating, and bid reviewsMonitor, control, and optimise the financial performance of contracts within the assigned portfolioPrepare and present operational performance reports, budgets, forecasts, key performance indicators, and improvement plans.Business Development and Customer EngagementDevelop and execute strategies to secure new business opportunities, enter new market sectors, and expand existing service capabilitiesBuild and maintain senior-level customer relationships to strengthen market presence and promote awareness of Bilfinger's capabilities and value propositionSupport the identification and development of new revenue streams, service enhancements, and strategic growth opportunities.Asset, Logistics and Resource ManagementHold overall accountability for the effective and efficient operation of the company's stores and logistics facilities in AberdeenEnsure the availability, utilisation, and optimisation of operational resources to support business objectives and contract requirementsOversee operational production overhead expenditure, ensuring costs are effectively controlled and value is maximisedProduce and review detailed monthly reports on operational overhead costs, trends, risks, and improvement opportunitiesLeadership and People ManagementProvide leadership, direction, and coaching to operational teams, fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvementMotivate and develop teams to achieve operational, technical, commercial, and strategic objectivesPromote collaboration across functions to deliver business objectives and support organisational success.Qualifications & CompetenciesQualificationsDegree qualified in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)Relevant leadership and management qualification preferredProfessional engineering or industry accreditation desirable (e.g., Chartered Engineer, Project Management, IOSH/NEBOSH)Strong understanding of offshore and onshore service delivery within the industrial maintenance sectorExtensive experience managing multi-discipline operational teams and long-term service contracts.CompetenciesProven strategic and operational leadership capabilityStrong technical governance and operational excellence mindsetDemonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality standardsCommercially astute with experience in contract, budget, and P&L managementStrong business development and customer relationship management skillsExperience leading digitalisation, innovation, and continuous improvement initiativesExcellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skillsAbility to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teamsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilityEffective planning, resource management, and organisational skillsResilient, adaptable, and results-driven leadership styleCollaborative approach with the ability to build cross-functional alignment and drive organisational performanceFor additional information please contact Claire Dingwall by email claire.dingwall@bilfinger.com.Bilfinger is an equal opportunity employer.
