Onshore inspection Coordinator is the focal point of a designated asset with responsibility for day-to-day coordination with the onsite Inspection Team and the Integrity Discipline(s) for technical evaluation & examination activities, specification of inspection equipment & materials and alignment of competent personnel for Risk Based Inspection and Inspection provision for Remediation & Construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understands Risk Based Inspection objectives and applied NDT inspection techniques employed to meet said objectives.
  • Manages and supervises discipline issues, directing Project Engineer colleagues on cost, service, operational & technology issues.
  • Provides functional guidance to inspection vendors or subcontractors on NDT Inspection discipline specific matters.
  • Ensures work meets company quality standards and is produced in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Primary interface between onshore inspection and onsite Integrity Engineering team for designated asset(s).
  • Receives direction & reports progress to the Inspection Focal Point Engineer, prioritising technical evaluation & examination activities, specification of inspection equipment & materials, and alignment of competent personnel for Risk Based Inspection and Inspection provision for Remediation & Construction activities.
  • Aligns discipline requirements of the role and delegates operational requirements to the Project Engineer, providing assurance.
  • Supports Inspection personnel and other contractors in the prioritisation and planning of work.
  • Interfaces with Installation Integrity Engineer(s) & Integrity Discipline(s) to clarify NDT inspection techniques to meet integrity objectives.
  • Reviews Work pack requirements, inspection reports, isometrics, vessel general arrangements and P&ID drawings, coordinating activities to ensure practical equipment provisions and personnel competence requirements are met timely.
  • Liaises with Installation Integrity Engineer to maximise opportunistic inspection of vessels, plant and equipment at client request.
  • Provides technical advice to ensure ad-hoc inspections are completed and integrity of units are fully assessed.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of innovative & advanced NDT techniques.
  • Ensures assurance of UKAS accredited NDT techniques and knowledge of integrity threats & mitigation suitability.
  • Liaises with Asset Focal Points, discipline Engineers and Site Integrators to ensure workscope readiness and gate compliance for inspection and support related activities.
  • Attends regular planning meetings and asset specific meetings.
  • Reviews and estimates checksheets in the client’s Maintenance Management System to ensure support, personnel and equipment requirements are identified for efficient planning.
  • Conducts pre‑mobilisation briefs with technicians to communicate safety expectations, workscope details and provide Maintenance Management System familiarisation.
  • Ensures timely submission of deferrals to discipline Engineers in the client system for workscopes that cannot be executed before the target completion date.
  • Ensures Quality & Technical Governance checks are carried out on inspection reports to maintain compliance as per UKAS 17020 accreditation.
  • Assures that Project Engineer work related to CTRs meets both technical & quality requirements and facilitates timely completion and submission to client.
  • Submits weekly working hours, ensuring correct coding and processing in line with contract.
  • Ensures invoicing data are aligned to correct labour & plant prior to submission to client, assisting with queries as required.
  • Amends / gives direction to the Project Engineer on CTR technical requirements / amendments before submission to client.
  • Specifies Inspection Plant, Material and Equipment requirements for any new scopes to the Inspection Project Engineer.
  • Assists Asset Focal points and the Inspection Focal point with activities of sub‑contractors / 3rd Parties for work required.
  • Liaises and plans with Bilfinger ANDT Team for any planned and emergent advanced inspection scopes.
  • Liaises and plans with Bilfinger Inspection and Rope access Stores Teams for all Inspection Equipment requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • ASME Plant Inspector Level 1 / meets competence requirements to UKAS RG2 Cat 3.
  • Experience of ‘in‑service’ plant inspection and NDT in an offshore environment.
  • Proven ability to work without supervision and to provide effective supervision to others.
  • Experience within a relevant discipline, with at least one year spent in an engineering discipline associated with the relevant field of inspection.
  • Experience in inspection in a relevant process industry, with the majority of experience elements applied in inspection tools and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret commonly used engineering drawings and data sets (piping isometrics, vessel general arrangements, P&ID, process flow diagrams, piping schedules).
  • Detailed knowledge of the uses and limitations of commonly applied non‑destructive examination techniques (MPI, DPI, UT, radiation techniques).
  • Working knowledge of specialist NDE techniques applied in support of above‑water inspection and monitoring programmes (pulsed eddy current, thermography, time‑of‑flight diffraction, CHIME, etc.).
  • Clear understanding of major discipline issues arising from oil and gas production systems; awareness of materials and key degradation mechanisms associated with offshore production facilities.
  • Awareness of piping and vessel design codes (ASME VIII, PD5500, ASME B31.3).
  • Computer literate with proven ability to use common Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and articulate inspection and corrosion issues at all levels within an offshore organisation.
  • Fluency in the English language, capable of communicating effectively with peers, direct reports, sub‑contract personnel and immediate management.

Desirable Qualifications

  • ASME Plant Inspector Level 2 / meets competence requirements to UKAS RG2 Cat 2.
  • HNC/HND level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • PCN Level II or equivalent in MPI, DPI, and UT (UT must be 3.1/3.2 Plate and Pipe).
  • Radiographic Interpretation (RI).
  • Qualified and competent in all grades of ultrasonic weld inspection.
  • IRATA Level I.
  • PCN (or equivalent) Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS).
  • Qualified in Advanced NDT Techniques.
