Key Responsibilities – Technical & Practical Duties

  • Carry out welding activities using approved processes (e.g. MMA, MIG/MAG, TIG) in line with drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Prepare materials, joints, and equipment prior to welding activities.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and job instructions.
  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials as required by the business.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with standards.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and correctly.
  • Follow welding procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Complete job documentation, weld records, and apprentice logbooks accurately.
  • Proactively seek feedback and coaching to improve welding technique and efficiency.
  • Support more experienced welders and fabricators as required.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and risk assessments.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
  • Comply with company policies and industry regulations.
